Württemberg 2nd class B100

Detail text

Württemberg bogie passenger car. In contrast to Prussia and many other state railways that bought in England, Württemberg bought its first vehicles in the USA. England relied on two-axle compartment cars. The advantage of low weight per seat for quick acceleration and quick passenger changes at stops. The USA preferred bogie wagons because of their better driving characteristics on uneven tracks result in higher travel speeds. In 1865, the German VdEV Technical Assembly spoke out in favor of the turntable system instead of switches and in favor of four-wheeled instead of eight-wheeled wagons. As a result, the number of eight-wheeled cars declined sharply until shortly before the turn of the century.

Detail text
